Let Freedom Ring Ceremony
The "Let Freedom Ring” Ceremony includes tolling bells 13 times in honor of the Delegates from the 13 Colonies, including Georgia, who adopted the Declaration of Independence at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on the 4th day of July, 1776. The goal is for citizens nationwide to simultaneously hear the sound of America’s founding—the same way people in Philadelphia heard the ringing of the Liberty Bell at Independence Hall in 1776.
The Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution sponsors this program, authorized in 1963 through a Joint Resolution of Congress. Participants include thousands of bell locations nationwide, and “Let Freedom Ring” is recognized as the largest national program associated with the American Revolution.

Pictured is Greg Hollis, Registrar of the Marshes of Glynn Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, (with young recruits) tolling the bell at Christ Church, Frederica on July 4th 2005 in connection with the “Let Freedom Ring” National Bell Ringing Ceremony. We arranged for two churches and individuals in Glynn County to participate in the Ceremony to help remember the brave men and women who brought this nation into being.
