NEWS ABOUT OUR COMPATRIOTS

 We are pleased to welcome two new members in 2005 -- Jeffry McDonald and Douglas McDonald, sons of our Compatriot, Jack McDonald. Four men currently have SAR Applications in the final stages- Herb Henry, D.O. Chesnut, Fred Davis and Lewis Davis. 

We have established a Chapter Color Guard with four Compatriots so far -- Jerry Mann and Bill Ramsaur, dressed in Continental Officer Uniforms, and Greg Hollis and Jack McDonald, dressed in kilts of their Scottish Clan. Greg, Jack and Jerry served with the Georgia Society SAR Color Guard during the April Patriots Day Celebration and Greg and Jack added dignity and color to our Grave Marking in November for Compatriot Hurley Jones. Bill participated in his uniform with the Georgia Society SAR Color Guard during Ceremonies at Kettle Creek in February, at Ramsour's Mill in June and for Count Pulaski in Savannah in October.

At the 2005 National Society Congress in Louisville, our Chapter was awarded the Col. Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. Certificate of Recognition for Participation in the 2005 Partners in Patriotism- Blue Star Salute. One of our Compatriots obtained a Blue Star Banner from the American Legion and presented it to the mother of a soldier who is serving in Iraq. It was displayed in her window when the soldier along with four other soldiers visited St. Simons on leave in June. 

Two of our Compatriots, who serve in the Navy, were recently deployed with their ships- Jim Barbe to Washington State and Charlie McNeil to the Middle East. We wish them fair sailing and look forward to their safe return.
